MONTHLY PROGRESS REPORT CONTRACTOR: University of California at Berkeley TITLE: Open Control Platform REPORT PERIOD: 7/15/00 - 8/15/00 SPONSOR: Boeing Subcontract, Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) REPORT PREPARED BY: Edward A. Lee 1. Research Status Christopher Hylands downloaded the OCP pre-release from Boeing and provided Boeing with feedback on the configuration. Sonia Sachs began experimenting with Tao and understanding the higher-level wrappers for the event channel that are provided by the OCP classes. An immediate problem she encountered is that the wrappers do not have a corresponding IDL definition. She was hoping to implement in Java the interface to the Event Channel, using idltojava to convert the IDLs defined for communication and administration. Her plan was to use the generated stubs and skeletons to implement, in Java, suppliers and consumers that communicate via Event Channel to OCP suppliers and consumers. Brian Mendel at Boeing was very helpful in providing pointers to the wrapper code that contains the necessary sequence of calls to the lower level CORBA IDL interfaces. The longer term plan is to create an IDL for the wrappers. Meetings ======== * August 14, 2000: Informal meeting with Helen Gill. We gave an overview of progress on the Ptolemy II effort, including demonstrating the graphical user interface, and an overview of work in time-driven models for hard-real-time systems.
